The Curriculum is used within South Gloucestershire for all grant funded pre-school providers and reception years in schools. The curriculum sets out six areas of learning covering children’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social development:
Learning goals are set out, which state what it is expected that the children will know and be able to do by the end of the reception year of their education.
For each learning goal, stepping stones are set out which describe the stages through which children are likely to pass as they move to achievement of the goal.
Profiles are used to record each child’s progress and these can be handed onto a new setting that a child might attend or their school when they join reception year.
